Bee Stands for Book.Shop (yes, that’s book dot shop!) opened on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026 with a business model that emphasizes community, flexibility, nimbleness and fun! The membership option includes a sizeable discount, book exchange parties, events and literary-based activities. (Events will be always open to all, but members will see free or reduced activity costs.)
Part of the business plan is to dedicate a percentage of profits and/or membership funds to local non-profits benefitting the arts, serving the homeless, and providing books and learning opportunities to young readers.
Though we will have a home base, the ‘shop’ will also travel, pop-up, and at some point have an online retail presence.
Starting in Anchorage, where I have lived for over 20 years, Bee Stands for Book.shop will eventually have two locations. The second will be in my hometown of Paoli, Indiana where it will be located in Paoli’s original Carnegie library built in 1918.
